Chana dal is a split chick pea, and has a slightly nutty and sweet flavour. This is a really simple recipe to make, quite spicy too. We have included enough chana dal for 4 people and plenty of spices including curry leaves, mustard seeds and Kashmiri chillies. As with a lot of Indian dishes, this one improves overnight and freezes well too.
